Creating Payables

Learn how to create payables in Built — either manually or in bulk — to prepare for digital payments. You’ll see how to link vendors and projects and enter key payment details. If your payables require lien waivers, you’ll be directed to the Lien Waiver Management course for full setup guidance.

- Connect payables to vendors and projects for payment readiness.
Method 1: Create Payables Manually
- Navigate to the Payables tab in the top navigation bar.
- Click the blue Add Payable button.
- Select + Add Manually.
- Choose your Vendor (or create one using Quick Add). (Required)
- Select your Project (or create one using Quick Add). (Required)
- Enter the payable details:
- Payable App Number (required)
- Job Number (optional)
- Invoice Date (required)
- Due Date (required)
- Payment Amount (required)
- If the payable includes lien waivers, configure the settings:
- Conditional / Unconditional Lien Waiver: Select templates and choose delivery method.
- If left blank, the payable is treated as a standard bill pay item.
- Click Save to create the payable.

Method 2: Bulk Import Payables via CSV
- Click the Payables tab.
- Click the blue Add Payable button.
- Select Import CSV.
- Download the Payable CSV Template and complete it with:
- Project Name
- Invoice Number
- Invoice Date
- Due Date
- Vendor
- Amount
- Job Number
- Is Final (Yes/No)
- Return to Built and upload your completed CSV file.
- Click Review Uploaded Payables to validate your entries.
- Fix any validation errors or re-upload a corrected CSV.
- Click Import Payables to finalize creation.
📌 Tip:
Use the bulk import method for onboarding multiple payables or migrating data from an ERP.
Best Practices
- Confirm each payable is tied to the correct project and vendor.
- Use bulk import for efficiency when adding many payables at once.
- Reference the *Lien Waiver Management* course if lien waiver templates are required.
